The castle and its water
Belvelly stands at the narrow channel between Great Island and Fota. These views follow the tower through evening light, mist, floodlight and celebration.

Inside the restored tower
Medieval stone carried through into daily life: a vaulted dining room, a cantilevered stair, hallways lit from below, and rooms made for sitting in.

Before the work began
The condition the Wilsons took on: a roofless shell, open to weather, its masonry needing attention stone by stone.

Quiet Listening
Orla de Brí’s rooftop composition, installed in 2018: a dark-green bronze figure facing a bronze tree finished in 24-carat gold leaf.

The castle and the community
Belvelly is a private family home, but its custodians have opened the grounds and lit the tower for local causes. These are past occasions, recorded as they happened.
All photography is from Belvelly Castle’s own archive, spanning the years of restoration and the life of the castle since. Belvelly is a private family residence and is not open to the public.
